A seminar on substance misuse related issues in the North East Inner City area (NEIC) was held in the Department of Health on Monday the 1st of July 2019. This seminar was focused around the findings and recommendations of recent needs analysis of the NEIC area commissioned by the NICDATF. 

The seminar included inputs from: 

  • Kathyan Kelly, the researcher of the needs analysis 
  • Joe Barry, Professor of Public Health in Trinity College Dublin and Chair of the NICDATF
  • Jim Walsh, Principal Officer of the Drugs Programme Unit, Dept of Health & Chair of the NEIC PIB Addiction Sub-group 
  • Donal Cassidy from HSE Social Inclusion CHO9 gave an update on HSE responses to NEIC needs that are being progressed.
